As Gwendolyn books are about a pig who loves to dance, I do Gwendolyn library events with local ballet companies and schools. While I read the book, the dancers perform the story (approximately 20 minutes). After the reading/dance performance is finished and the kids in the audience are in a dancing mood, we have a mini-movement lesson (10-15 minutes). We end with a short photo session where the kids can have their picture taken with the dancers (10 minutes). Most libraries also let an author sell and autograph books to any parents who want a book for their child. The books and the performances are intended for children 3-8 years old, although there are no age restrictions. Please note that every presentation varies slightly, depending on the ballet school or company that I perform with.
